Every July, a wave of new energy fills our offices as AKL welcomes law school students from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and high school students for a two-week internship program.
It’s always exciting to see fresh legal minds stepping in — full of curiosity, eager to learn, and unafraid to ask questions. While their lack of experience may be apparent, their thirst for knowledge more than makes up for it.
This year, we took the program to the next level by increasing the number of interactive exercises, always pairing them with solid theoretical foundations — particularly to support a smooth transition for our younger, school-age interns.
Our teams across all four practice areas — Real Estate, Banking & Finance, Corporate, and Dispute Resolution — enthusiastically embraced the initiative. They helped participants gain insight into daily law firm life, understand the core work of each department, and above all, appreciate the importance of a collaborative and communicative work culture.
The internship began with introductions, followed by two days focused on Real Estate, including land registry research and insights on Greece’s market described by our guest speaker, Dimitris Zontanos. Days 4-5 were dedicated to Banking & Finance with a public infrastructure financing simulation. Days 6-7 covered Corporate law tasks, and Days 8-9 involved a mock trial in Dispute Resolution! The program concluded with orientation quizzes, pizza, and certificate awards on Day 10.
A heartfelt thank you to all our interns for your presence, effort, and boundless curiosity. Your enthusiasm made this program truly special. And congrats to ELSA Athens for all their hard work in organizing the Job Fair every year — your efforts help bridge the gap between legal education and practice in meaningful ways.
P.S. We are especially grateful for our collaboration with the Hellenic American Educational Foundation Athens College - Psychico College and The Moraitis School. This year, we had the pleasure of welcoming five high school students from these institutions, who participated with enthusiasm and left us with excellent impressions!
