Environmental licensing is often perceived as a barrier to investment — yet in reality, it is the framework that enables sustainable and legally resilient development.
We are particularly happy that our associate, Persefoni Ntouchani, participated in the ELSA Athens “Talks” podcast series, representing AKL in a thoughtful discussion on the constitutional, European and practical dimensions of environmental permitting in Greece.
The conversation explored issues ranging from spatial and urban planning and strategic investments to Natura 2000 protection and environmental impact assessment. Particular emphasis was placed on the evolving jurisprudence of the Greek Council of State and the balance Greek courts seek to strike between environmental protection and economic growth, especially in projects of significant public and economic interest.
A big thank you to ELSA Athens for the invitation and the engaging discussion.
