The numbers tell a compelling story. Women in the EU still earn, on average, 77% of what men earn, meaning they need to work 15.5 months to earn what their male colleagues earn in 12.
Although 60% of university graduates are women, they represent just 35% of board members, 21% of senior executives and only 7.6% of CEOs of Europe's largest companies.
The legal profession reflects the same pattern. While 40.6% of lawyers worldwide are women, only 12% hold the position of Managing Partner.
These figures illustrate what is often described as the "leaky pipeline" – it’s not a shortage of talent, but a gradual loss of women on the path to leadership.
